Fall Classic Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The exciting 11-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a total over 50 million spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball reported this represents the most-watched World Series finale since the 1991 edition showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable contest drew 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed fourth, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English-language broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – recorded 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen viewership increases for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the total US average reached 16.1M. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen various tongues.
