Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Classic Games

Similar to the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The feature will welcome back of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Significant Period for Mario

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive near the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his allies.

The company has a trio of new releases officially announced for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
